So I thought this would be a great time to share some of the interesting work they\u2019re doing or plan to do in the coming year.\u00a0 This group includes folks at UNT and TCU who have been meeting together or sharing ideas and events over the last year or so.\u00a0 They come from a range of disciplines and professional roles, so it\u2019s especially valuable to see how comics intersect with all of these different perspectives and approaches to reading, writing, and thinking about the issues they study. Next semester he and a colleague will be using comics again in an Anthropology &amp; Studio Art class on \u201cLittle Animals in Art, Culture &amp; Museums\u201d to help introduce the concept of animal personhood. Last time they taught the course, they used issues of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mouseguard.net\/\">Mouse Guard<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.devilsdue.net\/squarriors.html\">Squarriors<\/a><\/em>, but may also add an issue from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.darkhorse.com\/Comics\/17-826\/Age-of-Reptiles-Ancient-Egyptians-1\">Age of Reptiles: Ancient Egyptians<\/a><\/em>.<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wesleycray.com\">Wesley D. Cray<\/a> is an Assistant Professor of <a href=\"http:\/\/addran.tcu.edu\/philosophy\">Philosophy<\/a> at TCU, where they helped found the TCU Comics Initiative and\u00a0where they also regularly teach Philosophy and Comics. Their article, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/bjaesthetics\/article\/59\/2\/147\/5482536\">Some Ideas About the Metaphysics of Stories<\/a>\u201d was recently published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/bjaesthetics\">British Journal of Aesthetics<\/a> and their book, <em>Philosophy of Comics: An Introduction <\/em>(co-authored with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samcowling.org\">Sam Cowling<\/a>), is currently under contract with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbury.com\/us\/bloomsbury\/bloomsbury-press\">Bloomsbury Press<\/a>. Along with some other TCU faculty, they were recently interviewed for <a href=\"https:\/\/magazine.tcu.edu\/\">TCU Magazine<\/a> on the topic of <a href=\"https:\/\/magazine.tcu.edu\/fall-2019\/comics-classroom-creative-thinking\/\">comics in the classroom<\/a>. And they contributed to this recent <em>Aesthetics for Birds<\/em> blog post for a discussion of their <a href=\"https:\/\/aestheticsforbirds.com\/2019\/12\/09\/8-experts-reveal-their-top-5-in-the-decades-writing\/\">Top 5 Comics of the Decade<\/a>.\u00a0<br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>Sarah A. Evans, <a href=\"https:\/\/informationscience.unt.edu\/dr-sarah-evans\">Assistant Professor of Youth Librarianship<\/a>, in the Department of Information Sciences, just finished her first semester at UNT. For fall, she taught INFO 5410: Comics and Graphic Novels, a survey course about the range of content available in this format and how to use them in formal and informal learning settings. She is currently working towards her MLS and an avid comic reader. In addition to working for the libraries, she recently began writing articles for <a href=\"https:\/\/batman-news.com\/\">Batman-News.<\/a> There, she writes reviews for various comics associated with Batman and DC.
