{"id":1296,"date":"2016-05-20T13:50:06","date_gmt":"2016-05-20T19:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/?p=1296"},"modified":"2016-05-20T13:54:09","modified_gmt":"2016-05-20T19:54:09","slug":"maymester-meh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/2016\/05\/20\/maymester-meh\/","title":{"rendered":"Maymester Meh"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Are you feeling the Maymester Meh?<\/h2>\r\n<h3>We&#8217;re in that awkward state here at UNT where summer isn&#8217;t quite here yet, the library is <em>very<\/em> quiet, and plus this rainy weather has got us all feeling kinda meh.\u00a0But not to worry because what&#8217;s a better cure for feeling meh than interacting with some meh media?\u00a0Let&#8217;s get started&#8230;<\/h3>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<h3>Movies<\/h3>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5537687~S6\">Infinitely Polar Bear DVD 16877<\/a>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1298 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/infinitely_polar_bear_ver2_xlg.jpg\" alt=\"infinitely_polar_bear_ver2_xlg\" width=\"395\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/infinitely_polar_bear_ver2_xlg.jpg 1007w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/infinitely_polar_bear_ver2_xlg-400x271.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/infinitely_polar_bear_ver2_xlg-740x500.jpg 740w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nIt looks super cute and yeah alright it kinda is, but Infinitely Polar Bear draws that line between a heartbreaking sentimental drama and a picture of a goofy dad. It feels almost surface level, though Mark Ruffalo&#8217;s acting does manage to ruffle your feathers a bit. I&#8217;ll admit I used to have a crush on Mark Ruffalo (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anyone?). That has nothing to do with this movie but I just thought I&#8217;d mention it.\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Q2laHGc.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"208\" \/>\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5527908~S6\">Joy DVD 16947<\/a>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1314 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/Capture.png\" alt=\"Capture\" width=\"307\" height=\"350\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nThough the performance and emotion is worth the watch, you can&#8217;t help but wonder what happened to certain characters that suddenly disappear, why the dialog feels so meh, and why it seems to be lacking in the one thing it&#8217;s called.\r\n<h3>Boardgames<\/h3>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5430398~S6\">Munchkin Boardgame 10<\/a>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1312 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/munchkin-deluxe-board-game-review-1100543.jpg\" alt=\"munchkin-deluxe-board-game-review-1100543\" width=\"398\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/munchkin-deluxe-board-game-review-1100543.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/munchkin-deluxe-board-game-review-1100543-400x240.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nMunchkin is\u00a0one of those games you pretty much get the most out of the first time around. But there&#8217;s lots to choose from so who knows maybe you gotta just play each type once, and that&#8217;s quite a few games.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5421534~S6\">Risk (1980) Boardgame 15<\/a>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1301 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/Risk-1980-Board-Game__51COs4cbrVL.jpg\" alt=\"Risk-1980-Board-Game__51COs4cbrVL\" width=\"395\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/Risk-1980-Board-Game__51COs4cbrVL.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/Risk-1980-Board-Game__51COs4cbrVL-400x241.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nRisk is one of those games Dad plays whilst drinking beer and you&#8217;re just sitting there in your Halloween costume wondering how they could play something so confusing. Or maybe that&#8217;s just me. It&#8217;s time consuming, which can be great but it&#8217;s also time consuming so&#8230; taking over the world would feel really great if it wasn&#8217;t for the fact that millions of people would probably wind up dying.\r\n<h3>Video Games<\/h3>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5429977~S6\">Angry Birds Star Wars Game 564<\/a>\u00a0(PS4, Xbox One, Wii U)\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1315 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/361023-angry-birds-star-wars.jpg\" alt=\"361023-angry-birds-star-wars\" width=\"275\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/361023-angry-birds-star-wars.jpg 275w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/361023-angry-birds-star-wars-200x200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/361023-angry-birds-star-wars-65x65.jpg 65w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/361023-angry-birds-star-wars-125x125.jpg 125w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nYou could honestly try this on your phone and get the same satisfaction. If you love these franchises put two and two together and check it out, though. If you&#8217;re more like &#8220;Nothing can touch my Star Wars, never!&#8221; then maybe you ought to take a step back and have some ice cream\u00a0to cool off.\r\n\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/iii.library.unt.edu\/record=b5427210~S6\">Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 479 3DS<\/a>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1304 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/2581484-tmnt.jpg\" alt=\"2581484-tmnt\" width=\"393\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/2581484-tmnt.jpg 883w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/2581484-tmnt-400x289.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/05\/2581484-tmnt-740x534.jpg 740w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nPersonally, the whole TMNT franchise has turned meh. The game structure is not really for teens or adults, so it&#8217;s likely you&#8217;ll get bored. But if simplicity is your thing, maybe not. Plus turtles are meant to be crawling around with balloons attached to them. Right? (That&#8217;s a joke.
