{"id":2002,"date":"2018-06-29T09:20:06","date_gmt":"2018-06-29T15:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/?p=2002"},"modified":"2018-06-29T09:22:35","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T15:22:35","slug":"2000s-the-explosion-of-modern-anime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/2018\/06\/29\/2000s-the-explosion-of-modern-anime\/","title":{"rendered":"2000\u2019s: The Explosion of Modern Anime"},"content":{"rendered":"<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"314\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2007\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/Anime-Pic-1-400x314.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/Anime-Pic-1-400x314.jpg 400w, https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2018\/06\/Anime-Pic-1.jpg 733w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>\r\n<p>For many children and young adults in the early 2000\u2019s Japanese Animation, or Anime for short, is not a well-known concept.\u00a0 However, when examined under a metaphorical microscope, it becomes obvious that many of the \u201ccartoons\u201d that were watched as kids were actually anime, including shows such as Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Monsters, Pokemon (Pokemon the first Movie \u2013 DVD 17738), InuYasha, and Digimon being prime examples.<\/p>\r\n<p>Enter the year 2002 and many fondly remembered shows were released such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Panic, Samurai Champloo, Hellsing (DVD 10687 v. 1-4), Elfen Lied, and Bleach.<\/p>\r\n<p>Upon seeing that there was a market for anime in the west, Japan capitalized on this new audience combined with new technologies and advancements in computer animation.
