If you are trying to look for datasets for your class assignments,\u00a0research,\u00a0or just to brush up on your data analysis skills,\u00a0the\u00a0UNT\u00a0Libraries\u00a0have some\u00a0useful sources\u00a0that might help fulfill your dataset needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So,\u00a0where to find datasets?\u00a0The\u00a0UNT\u00a0Libraries\u2019\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.unt.edu\/datasets\">Finding Datasets<\/a>\u00a0guide lists many credible sources where you can find datasets. You can find datasets from open sources that\u00a0do\u00a0not require any\u00a0subscription,\u00a0like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.census.gov\/cedsci\/\">U.S. Census data<\/a>,\u00a0a platform to access data and digital content from the U.S. Census\u00a0Bureau;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.texas.gov\/\">Texas Open Data Portal<\/a>,\u00a0a source to access administrative data reported by various departments in the state of\u00a0Texas;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.data.gov\/\">U.S. Government open data<\/a>,\u00a0a federal open government data site and other sources listed on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.unt.edu\/datasets\/public\">public data sources<\/a>\u00a0page or you can look for datasets on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.unt.edu\/datasets\/subscription\">subscription-based data sources<\/a>\u00a0like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discover.library.unt.edu\/catalog\/b5879913\">IBIS World<\/a>,\u00a0a collection of U.S. and global industry market research and U.S. risk\u00a0ratings;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discover.library.unt.edu\/catalog\/b6375588\">Cross-National Time-Series Data Archive<\/a>,\u00a0a longitudinal national data series\u00a0that provides annual data on categories like demographic data, social, political and economic topics for all\u00a0countries;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/discover.library.unt.edu\/catalog\/b4384394\">Social Explorer<\/a>,\u00a0an online research tool designed to provide quick and easy access to current and historical census data and demographic information and so forth.\u00a0Accessing\u00a0subscription-based\u00a0sources off-campus will require you to authenticate using your EUID and password. The guide does a\u00a0great job\u00a0of providing\u00a0a\u00a0brief\u00a0description of almost all\u00a0the sources it lists so you get an overview of\u00a0the\u00a0type\u00a0of datasets you can expect when you go into the sources.\u00a0<br><br>You can also find datasets\u00a0using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.unt.edu\/datasets\/search-engines\">search engines for datasets<\/a>.\u00a0Dataset\u00a0search engines host varieties of datasets,\u00a0so it is recommended to check the quality and credibility of data before using them. Two\u00a0popular search engines for datasets are:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaggle.com\/datasets\">Kaggle\u00a0dataset<\/a>: It is an open\u00a0data-sharing\u00a0platform. It is popular among data\u00a0analysts\u00a0because of the data analysis notebook feature,\u00a0where users can upload their analysis on the dataset.\u00a0<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/datasetsearch.research.google.com\/\">Google dataset<\/a>: It is like an aggregator website that enables users to find datasets stored across the Web through a simple keyword search.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully,\u00a0these resources make your quest of finding datasets more of a guided adventure than an endless exploration on\u00a0Google.
