Sycamore Library <a href=\"https:\/\/discover.library.unt.edu\/?f%5Bbuilding_facet%5D%5B%5D=Sycamore+Library&amp;q=&amp;search_field=text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offers a range<\/a> of collections, items, materials, services, assistance, and cozy spaces and meeting areas for patrons. From political posters to educational kits to games to calculators\u2014Sycamore Library has it all.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sycamore Library Collections<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sycamore Library is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsl.texas.gov\/statepubs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Texas State Publications Depository Program<\/em><\/a> and a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/how-to-work-with-us\/agency\/services-for-agencies\/federal-depository-library-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Federal Depository Library Program<\/em><\/a>\u2014which means Sycamore Library is recognized as a Repository\/Depository Library that offers public access to <a href=\"https:\/\/library.unt.edu\/sycamore\/collections\/government-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U.S. Government and Texas State Documents and Information<\/a>. There are only two <em>active<\/em> depository collections in Texas which includes Sycamore Library (UNT Libraries) and Texas Tech University, (Texas State Library and Archives Commission, 2021). Patrons can use a light table located on the first floor to view all types of maps. Sycamore Library offers an extensive and diverse <a href=\"https:\/\/discover.library.unt.edu\/catalog?f%5Bbuilding_facet%5D%5B%5D=Sycamore+Library&amp;q=Juvenile+collection&amp;search_field=text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juvenile Collections<\/a> for all ages, from Easy Reader books to chapter books. Voter registration information can be found next to the Services Desk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sycamore Library offers individual and group study spots, two large meeting rooms, computer and printer stations, a community supply cabinet, a shredder, standing white boards, scanners, community computers, study prep items, educational programs\/games\/activities, and even a desk bike on the Mezzanine Floor. Looking for ways to de-stress? Renovations included adding <a href=\"https:\/\/library.unt.edu\/sycamore\/110b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two reservable meeting rooms<\/a> (fits up to 14 people), new carpeting and flooring, adding LED lighting, a new Service Desk, and a cosmetic remodel of the Computer Lab and Learning Commons area. Feel free to visit the library to see the wonderful renovations to ensure patrons have the best facilities for their educational journey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts, History, and Lore<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Hall was built in 1936 by famous architect and engineer, Wyatt C. Hedrick. A plaque can be found outside Sycamore Hall.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Library has three floors of books and materials.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Library has a card catalog that is still in use.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Library is often used as a set by student-filmmakers due to its library feel and look.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Hall and Library has gone through many names over the years including <em>Information Science Building, Library Building, Eagle Commons Library, and Science and Technology Library<\/em>. At the entrance of the library on top of the second set of doors, letter imprints of <em>Science and Technology Library <\/em>can be seen closely<em>.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sycamore Hall used to be a fallout shelter.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the stacks, there is a floor to ceiling bank vault. Many employees have claimed to experience unusual feelings, touches, and even weird sightings of an entity. Employees have named this ghost, Art. Art is a ghost that goes back decades ago and is known to be in the stacks, basement floor, and near the Service Desk.
