Located at Sycamore Hall, Sycamore Library<\/a> is one of the four branch libraries of UNT. Sycamore Library offers a range<\/a> of collections, items, materials, services, assistance, and cozy spaces and meeting areas for patrons. From political posters to educational kits to games to calculators\u2014Sycamore Library has it all.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sycamore Library Collections<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sycamore Library is part of the Texas State Publications Depository Program<\/em><\/a> and a member of the Federal Depository Library Program<\/em><\/a>\u2014which means Sycamore Library is recognized as a Repository\/Depository Library that offers public access to U.S. Government and Texas State Documents and Information<\/a>. There are only two active<\/em> depository collections in Texas which includes Sycamore Library (UNT Libraries) and Texas Tech University, (Texas State Library and Archives Commission, 2021). As an active depository, UNT Libraries collects, distributes, and preserves Texas State publications and information for Texans, (Texas State Library and Archives Commission, 2021). <\/p>\n\n\n

Sycamore Library houses original political posters<\/a> and maps<\/a> that patrons can look through on the first floor. Patrons can use a light table located on the first floor to view all types of maps. Sycamore Library offers an extensive and diverse Juvenile Collections<\/a> for all ages, from Easy Reader books to chapter books. Education majors or student-parents can also check out Curriculum Materials<\/a> and educational kits<\/a> from the first floor. Patrons studying or interested in business, political science, geography, and law can find related materials and items at Sycamore.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Sycamore\u2019s Lead Government Information Reference Specialist<\/em>, Bobby Griffith<\/a>, has created many helpful guides<\/a> that include government recipes, comics, catalogs, military information, census information, and much more. Research and Instruction Librarian,<\/em> Briana Knox<\/a> has libguides<\/a> on law, hazards and disaster information, and more. Government Information Librarian<\/em>, Tasha McClain<\/a> offers libguides<\/a> on genealogy, voting, public policy, and government information.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can\u2019t come to Sycamore Library? Sycamore Library offers a range of online resources<\/a> including government information, books, images, databases, software, videos, and many more.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services, Spaces, and Items <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can receive research assistance from Sycamore Library\u2019s Subject Librarians, Briana Knox and Tasha McClain. Briana Knox<\/a> is the librarian contact for College of Health and Public Service, Merchandising, Hospitality\/Tourism and Emergency Management and Department of Disaster Science, Linguistics, Political Science, and Mexican American Studies. Students can find subject and course guides<\/a> includes databases, websites, books, and other helpful information for students to use for their courses and assignments. Tasha McClain<\/a> is the contact librarian for College of Health and Public Service, Criminal Justice, Legal Research, Public Administration, and Government Information. Students can find subject and course guides<\/a> about voting and civic engagement information.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patrons can register to vote<\/a> at Sycamore Library or consult with Sycamore Library\u2019s Deputy Voter Registrar, Bobby Griffith<\/a>. Voter registration information can be found next to the Services Desk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sycamore Library offers individual and group study spots, two large meeting rooms, computer and printer stations, a community supply cabinet, a shredder, standing white boards, scanners, community computers, study prep items, educational programs\/games\/activities, and even a desk bike on the Mezzanine Floor. Looking for ways to de-stress? Sycamore Library also offers several areas where patrons can color, do puzzles, answer fun questions, and read.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Educational and Book Displays can be found on the first floor. Displays are regularly changed and are created by student workers and staff. Displays reflect holidays, celebrations, collections, and other commemorable works.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Services Desk<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Services Desk offers many success tools for patrons to check out\u2014this includes calculators, laptops, chargers, magnifying glasses, USB drives, a lab coat, Expo Marker kits, headphones, style manuals, and a selection of Course Reserves. Student-parents can check out two Kids Activity Kits<\/a> or pick up a Grab & Go<\/a> bag full of goodies for their children.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Sycamore Library Construction<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From December 2023 to July 2024, Sycamore Library closed for renovations. Renovations included adding two reservable meeting rooms<\/a> (fits up to 14 people), new carpeting and flooring, adding LED lighting, a new Service Desk, and a cosmetic remodel of the Computer Lab and Learning Commons area. Feel free to visit the library to see the wonderful renovations to ensure patrons have the best facilities for their educational journey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
