{"id":32,"date":"2014-10-16T09:13:52","date_gmt":"2014-10-16T09:13:52","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-03-26T09:07:58","modified_gmt":"2015-03-26T15:07:58","slug":"32","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.library.unt.edu\/scienceretentionlibrarian\/2014\/10\/16\/32\/","title":{"rendered":"STEM Data Galore at NCES"},"content":{"rendered":"<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri;\">Over the summer, the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri; color: #0000ff;\">National Center for Education Statistics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri;\"> (NCES) released the 2014 report from the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/pubsearch\/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2014141\"><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri; color: #0000ff;\">Baccalaureate and Beyond Study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">, a four-year longitudinal study which started in 2008 and followed bachelor\u2019s degree recipients as they went onto employment and\/or further education. There are numerous tables showing the percentages of students who graduated with STEM degrees, their subsequent employment, and their average salaries. There\u2019s lots of good information here for both faculty and students who are wondering about what the future holds for students with a STEM degree.<\/span><\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri;\">The NCES also provides the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/ipeds\/\"><span style=\"font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri; color: #0000ff;\">Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">, which integrates information from a number of annual surveys of colleges and universities that participate in the federal student aid program. With the data system, you can look at data about your individual institution, including number of STEM degrees awarded, and compare it with other institutions.
