All schools that receive federal funds have been charged with providing educational programming related to the Constitution on or near September 17.<\/p>\r\n<p>As part of the UNT celebration, the <a href=\"https:\/\/honors.unt.edu\/\">UNT Honors College<\/a>\u2014with support from the UNT Libraries and funding from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jackmillercenter.org\/constitution-day-initiative\/\">Jack Miller Center<\/a>\u2014will be presenting a panel discussion on the constitutional issues raised by the recent Supreme Court decision in the case of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/case-files\/cases\/obergefell-v-hodges\/\">Obergefell v. Hodges<\/a>. In a 5\u20134 decision, the Court held that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/due_process\">Due Process Clause<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/equal_protection\">Equal Protection Clause<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/constitution\/amendmentxiv\">Fourteenth Amendment<\/a> to the Constitution, while also noting that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/free_exercise_clause\">Free Exercise Clause<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/constitution\/first_amendment\">First Amendment<\/a> protects the rights of those who choose not to recognize same-sex marriage because it is against their religion.<\/p>\r\n<p>Join us for this exciting discussion, \u201cThe Futures of Marriage Equality and Religious Liberty: Perspectives on Obergefell v. Hodges,\u201d beginning at 11 a.m. in Room 100 of the <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.unt.edu\/places\/1008\/view\">Auditorium Building<\/a>, 1401 W.
